The Holy Door..opened December 12, 2015
The idea of a Holy Door has been used by the Church for centuries, finding its meaning when believers associate the door with Christ. Pope Francis has marked this Jubilee Year of Mercy with a Holy Door at Saint Peters in Rome, and every bishop has established one at his cathedral church. In our diocese, Bishop Scharfenberger has allowed for several other throughout the diocese, one of which is at the Church of Saint Peter. As Saint Pope John Paul II has said, “To pass through the door means to confess that Jesus Christ is Lord; it is to strengthen faith in Him in order to live the new life which he gives us.”
When at the Church, use our Holy Door as a reminder of the life of discipleship which this Year of Mercy invites us to live.
